It was a very special evening at The Owl & Pussycat for Quizmaster Trivia UK this week as actor Jon Hamm took part in our pub quiz in East London.
Hamm, best known for playing the lead role of Don Draper on TV's Mad Men was in London filming and decided to take part in our quiz! Friend David Cross (who featured in last week's quiz) returned for more quiz action and brought along Jon to get a taste of Quizmaster and drink a few old fashioned's.
Plus it was a great night to try and blend in with the crowd, as a total of 54 players gathered to compete for prizes at our trivia night...
It was a record attendance this past Tuesday at The Owl & Pussycat, with over 50 players at our Pub Quiz.
We also had the likes of Amber Tamblyn and Sharon Horgan feature on Jon Hamm's team...
Jon and his team entered their quiz sheet in at the end of the game with the team name 'Mad Men pulling Todd Margaret's pants down.'
And Quizmaster Sam was especially excited to meet Jon Hamm, as he's a big fan of Mad Men and his work.
And we had plenty of teams in the building who recognised the american actor, who tried their very best to contain their excitement and just think of a cool Mad Men inspired team name...
Most notably, The Don Rapers who finished as our quiz victors with a score of 43 points! Congrats people. The team won a £30 bar tab! And as he scored their sheet and found their team name rather amusing, Mr Don Draper himself kindly stepped in for the photo,
Elsewhere on the evening, we had a sudden death for our second place prize as Free Egg (New Ketch) and The most original team name both tied on a solid 41 points!
So we posed the following sudden death question to round up the evening: A record set by Hungary during the 1954 tournament, what is the record number of goals scored by a single team during a FIFA World Cup?
Free Egg (New Ketch) answered: 22
The most original team name answered: 9
The answer was 27! Leading Free Egg (New Ketch) to quizzical victory. Hooray!
The trio won a £20 bar tab...
A range of teams provided stiff competition for the coveted Best Team Name prize, rewarding contestants with a £10 bar tab. But ultimately, the people's choice was Spandau Bollocks. Good job people, you deserve every penny of that tenner.
Finally, team Clueless quickly grabbed a picture as they sat in awe of Jon Hamm's magnificent presence.
What a guy.
That's all folks! We return next week at 8pm with another eventful evening of trivia and celebrities for you - with rumour that The Queen might be popping in for a pint of Guinness and a bit of trivia.
Until next time London, drink while you think...
